Long days, fast summer
Aug. 24th, 2005 12:19 pmA while back I mentioned that I was going to be taking on two jobs for the summer, with the downside that I might be working as much as 55 hours a week some weeks. Well, since both of them are university-related jobs, with the approaching start of the school year, those days are here. While my hours are sane for four of my six working days this week, today and yesterday are 12-hour days. Bleah. Fortunately, my energy level is pretty good, I'm sleeping all right, and the upper 90's heat wave has subsided here... so I can cope all right. Oh, not to mention that I really do enjoy both of my jobs. That makes a huge difference.
Still, it has virtually eliminated my writing time. I'm trying to stick to my hour or so in the morning before I pull myself together and get out the door, but with so little downtime I often revert to just reading something instead -- it's so much easier and more mindless. My serial story has gone on hiatus (apologies to those who were following it), as have my two other correspondence stories (sorry again, correspondents). It will probably be another month before my schedule eases up, not until after the first week or two after classes start (after Labor Day, that is).
On the upside, however, Sluggy Freelance has finally gotten around to its parody of The Prisoner of Azkaban.
