I have posted before on the unlikely parallels that The Onion has had to my personal life; for instance, they once warned me away from the NYC Teaching Fellows Program, which I was considering seriously.  Last week's horoscope, however, had a different sort of warning (I'm a Cancer) that clearly pertained to my new job at the Columbia University Bookstore.  While I do wear a name tag there, I'm glad to say it certainly isn't menial.  Once I'm familiar with all the regular business of the store, I'll get to pick several sections to be in charge of -- history, mythology, sf/fantasy, and poetry are all unclaimed, so I'm rather excited at the prospect -- and I'll even get some say in what stays and what we order for those sections.

So far, I'm enjoying this job immensely.  Unlike my last job -- to pick an example at random -- I actually know what I'm doing.  Also, I'm really glad I don't have to worry that Onion horoscopes might be accurate... a scary thought.

just thought i'd show you this . . .

While bizarre at first glance, I suppose it makes a certain sense. But I have a feeling that it runs on how often one comments on the others posts, in which case I'm surprised my "friendship" with myself is so high. Do I really comment on 2/3 of my own posts?

Wait, I think I just answered my own question.
